Manon Isabella talks about fragrances to suit the likes of confident personas and hopeless romantics, basically the vivacious kinds…
You can tell a lot about a woman by the way she smells! Don’t take it offensively but perfumes are truly meant to be an extension of an individual’s personality. In our previous issue, we tried summing up the likes of a sporty personality- a long lasting perfume to keep pace with your heart’s content for an all day long adrenaline rush- this time we take a look at the ever-so-lovely and lively, the vivacious personality!
Here are some of the brands that offer perfumes to suit a person with a bubbly, sparkling, happy, merry, joyful and cheerful personality:
Launched in 2007, Daisy by Marc Jacobs is a sparkly, floral-woody fragrance, which is fresh and feminine both at the same time. Owing to its playful innocent side, the fragrance makes up for an ideal choice for the modern day woman with an alluring personality and one that exudes a quality of brightness in her aura.
Daisy starts with a fruity top note consisting of strawberry, an intense green aroma of violet leaves and a sparkling pink grapefruit that intertwines with a combination of floral heart of silky gardenia, violet and jasmine petals. The fragrance completes itself with a soft dry down of white woods, vanilla and musk.
Daisy is especially made for the sophisticated, dazzling and seductive woman by perfumer Alberto Morillas. The flacon of this fragrance is beautifully designed with decorated daisy flowers placed on top.
DKNY Be Tempted by DKNY
Launched in 2016, DKNY Be Tempted is the latest addition to the brand’s DKNY Be Delicious Collection. A seductive and sexy faceted fragrance, DKNY Be Tempted possesses an oriental character that is luminous, exciting and alluring, perfect for the classy evenings.
The top of this fragrance opens with juicy notes of blackcurrant bud, lemon and red fruit. The heart represents femininity and passion captured by rose essential oil, violet and orange blossom. And for the base, exotic Indonesian Patchouli oil is combined with vanilla cream and oriental myrrh resin.
Appearance wise, the glass bottle is oval shaped, as one would expect from the DKNY Be Delicious Collection fragrances, but this time coloured in bright red representing a juicy and tempting red apple. The upper metal part is also in red, decorated with a relief of a snake wrapped around the stopper.
Viva La Juicy by Juicy Couture
One of the icons from the brand’s portfolio of luxurious fragrances, Viva La Juicy was launched in 2008. Presented as a gourmet floral fragrance, the olfactive composition of Viva La Juicy opens with notes of wild berries and juicy mandarin. The heart is made of a floral blend of honeysuckle, gardenia and jasmine, while the base notes explode with a gourmet rhapsody of amber, caramel, vanilla, sandalwood and pralines.
The bottle is a continuation of the typical Juicy Couture flacon with a charming ribbon of fuchsia pink. Another great thing about this eau de parfum is that it also comes in a roll on edition which is handy for travel time as a perfect accompaniment in your purse.
Valentina Myrrh Assoluto by Valentino
Launched this year in the month of June, Myrrh Assoluto is an ode to myrrh by Valentino perfumes and joins the Rosa Assoluto and Oud Assoluto fragrances from the Valentina Assoluto Collection. Created by perfumers Olivier Cresp and Hamid Merati-Kasha, the fragrance exudes an olfactive essence of luxury, opulence and elegance.
The fragrance is an irreverent evocation that layers Indian Jasmine, myrrh and leather for an impression of mysterious familiarity. A diagonal approach to perfume blending, with notes of vanilla, ylang ylang and musks create a rich and intuitive modernity. And through complex techniques, Myrrh Assoluto is further rarefied to a most simple and pure expression of this mythic note.
An elliptical bottle of Myrrh Assoluto wears a couture rose in an elegant grey colour. And a golden neck topped by a black pearl stopper suggests the contents are steeped in luxury.
Sensuous by Estée Lauder
Moving boundaries from the already well known Estée Lauder floral notes, Sensuous opts towards an opulent oriental woody-amber concept. Launched in 2008, the fragrance praises beauty and sensuality of a woman at all ages.
The fragrance was created in cooperation with Annie Buzantian of Firmenich and is composed of sensual lily notes, magnolia and jasmine petals in the top. The heart brings in the aromas of molten wood and amber, while its base introduces the scents of sandalwood, black pepper and juicy mandarin pulp along with honey.
The bottle draws in a direct attention with its simple yet elegant lines. It is made of a heavy glass material with waves-like detailing, and a rose-gold coloured top. The name of the fragrance is imprinted in purple letters, which makes it look very sophisticated. The design is selected for the intention of the designers to make it suitable in line with previous Estée Lauder editions.
The ad campaign faces for this perfume were Gwyneth Paltrow, Elizabeth Hurley, Carolyn Murphy and Hilary Rhoda.
Alien by Thierry Mugler
Thirteen years after the huge success of their fragrance Angel, Thierry Mugler decided to challenge the perfumery world once again and how! Launched in 2005 and created by perfumers Dominique Ropion and Laurent Bruyere, Thierry Mugler’s Alien is a magical elixir captured in a bottle shaped of a strange object, reminiscent of a philosopher’s stone or some warlock object of a deep and mysterious purple colour.
The creators of Alien based the composition on three main lines- warm white amber in the base, woodsy notes at heart and sunny Indian Jasmine in the top.
Prada Candy is a sweet, feminine and at the same time a playful fragrance by Prada launched in August 2011. The nose behind this fragrance is Daniela Roche Andrier.
The fragrance is composed of an elegant mix of musks, sensual balsamic vanillic accord of benzoin and a sweet modern caramel accord. It is a novel olfactive balance of exceptionally high-quality ingredients in excessive proportions.
Prada Candy is an instant seductive explosion with the bottle in shocking pink and gold colours, to showcase a new facet of the Prada femininity.
