In Amouage’s latest volume of artistic ingenuity guised as haute parfumerie in the Library Collection, Opus VII is an evocative study of the relationship of human processes with the interpretation of knowledge. This masterful composition of expression was crafted with the true perfume connoisseur in mind, irrespective of age or gender
Opus VII is a green, woody and leather fragrance that arouses the juxtaposition of harmony with the intensity of reasoning between conflicting ideas and beliefs. Amouage Creative Director, Christopher Chong, says, “I have always been fascinated by the struggle of the critical nature of mankind with the long winding journey which leads to the domination of the mind in the pursuit and interpretation of knowledge. No matter how tumultuous, once knowledge is obtained, we submit ourselves to a powerful sensation of liberation and euphoria.” He explains that this act is seen in its fullest splendour of the Galbanum and warm woods set against the violent reincarnation of the resin notes.
Chong went on to say that the black bottle with specks of gold represents the two visions. The tome-shaped box is bound with black and gold crisscross lines, an allegory of the subjugation of the mind where thoughts are subverted and deconstructed.
Amouage’s Library Collection is a celebration of integrity, creativity and virtuosity. Inspired by the knowledge and experience drawn from the art of living, each of the seven fragrances reveal the many facets of a discovery.
