CPL Aromas Launches Its Sustainability Report

CPL Aromas is pleased to announce the launch of its 2023 Sustainability and Sustainability Highlights Reports highlighting the company’s ongoing dedication to sustainability and environmental responsibility. This comprehensive report showcases CPL Aromas’ progress, achievements, and future goals in key areas of sustainability which are in line with the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. CPL Aromas recognises the urgent need to address environmental challenges and minimise the impact on the planet. 

The 2023 Sustainability Report outlines the company’s initiatives and strategies aimed at reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices throughout its operations. CPL Aromas’ CEO, Chris Pickthall, said: “Despite ongoing external challenges, we are confident in our long-term strategy for success. Continual innovation and a steadfast commitment to sustainability will remain key drivers of our business. Whether it’s through the development of eco-friendly fragrance technologies, investing in renewable energy, or supporting local communities, we are committed to being leaders in sustainable development.” 

In the Sustainability Report, you will find details of CPL’s achievements during 2023 related to their four focus areas: Protecting our environment, caring for people, delivering responsible innovations and committing to responsible sourcing. Great progress has been made to achieve their goals across these four pillars. Key highlights from the report across the pillars include 

  1. Environment: In 2023 CPL achieved 52% of renewable electricity across their operations, 51% of absolute reduction in operational emissions and 47% reduction in landfill per tonne since 2018. 
  2. Product Innovation: The 2022 Sustainability Report emphasises CPL’s focus on developing environmentally friendly fragrance solutions for its customers. The company achieved an 82.37% average biodegradability of creation and a 55.99% average fragrance Index Score. 
  3. Sustainable Sourcing: CPL Aromas recognises the importance of responsible sourcing and has made significant progress in promoting sustainable practices within its supply chain. The company has now assessed 57% of its supply chain for their commitments to sustainability with over 60 responsibly sourced ingredients on the palette and 19 upcycled.
  4. Community Engagement: CPL Aromas actively engages with local communities to make a positive social impact. The report highlights the company’s support for various community projects, including education and vocational training initiatives aiming to uplift and empower individuals within the fragrance industry. 

CPL continues to support CAFOD and has donated over £1M this year to support their ongoing projects around the world. Another highlight for the year was achieving for the 3rd consecutive year EcoVadis Platinum Certificate putting CPL in the top 1% of companies assessed in 2023.
