Expressions Parfumées continues its exploration of perfumery’s hidden dimensions with the second chapter of its Signature captive bases. Following the success of the first trio, this new collection presents three more in-house creations, each conceived to enhance rather than dominate.
Like shadows that reveal light, these bases add depth, nuance, and structure while preserving the perfumer’s artistic intent. Subtle yet powerful, they perform at minimal dosages, remain undetectable to analysis, and adapt seamlessly across fragrance categories. In this second collection, the spotlight shifts to ingredients reimagined, familiar materials given new olfactory futures.
Meta Flora by Anne-Louise Gautier
Florality has always been central to perfumery, yet its future faces constraints as naturals grow scarce or restricted. Meta Flora answers this challenge with a vision of the bloom of tomorrow: not a single flower, but the memory of an imagined one.
Airy citrus and mineral sparks illuminate translucent petals, dissolving into a luminous trail of musk and sheer woods. The effect is holographic, like a bright, weightless cloud shimmering with crystalline reflections.
What makes Meta Flora distinctive is its versatility. It harmonises with diverse floral notes, lending bloom, body, and petal-like texture. Mapple Spirit by Stéphane Coez
Wood, a lasting foundation of fragrance, is reimagined with Mapple Spirit. Instead of the archetypal “blond wood,” this base envisions wood softened by gourmand undertones, tender, radiant, and luminous.
It behaves like a raw material in its own right, a structural pillar around which fragrances can be built. The accord evolves from smoky warmth into creamy softness: cedar’s strength melting into a vanillic veil reminiscent of maple syrup. Benzoin adds creaminess, sandalwood depth, and patchouli refined spice.
